At RPPS, we understand the importance of assessment for teachers, pupils and parents alike. By carefully assessing evidence of children’s learning we are able to track individual progress year on year and ensure each child is reaching their potential. Our assessment methods take on three forms: formative, diagnostic and summative assessment. This blend of assessment methods provides a detailed picture of each child and allows teachers to plan appropriate next steps in learning, identify targets and highlight individual strengths and weaknesses. Standardised examinations are conducted twice each academic year. Pupil involvement is integral to any successful assessment process and, as such, opportunities for self-assessment are integrated within all curriculum areas. Parents receive a detailed written report on their child’s progress and attainment at the end of each year, as well as an invitation to parent/teacher meetings each term.
