Physical Education (P.E.) and Games are integral components of a child’s education, playing a crucial role in their overall development. At RPPS, we believe that every child, regardless of their ability, can enhance their performance by setting and striving to achieve realistic and attainable goals. These goals are designed to boost their confidence and skills, both as individuals and as part of a team. From Reception through to Year Six, all pupils receive scheduled P.E. and Games lessons. These lessons provide opportunities to engage in a variety of activities, including gymnastics, tennis, padel, handball, basketball, lacrosse, dance, swimming, fitness, athletics, and a wide range of team sports. These team sports include rugby, football, cricket, rounders, hockey, and netball, all of which are supported by specialist coaching.
The primary aim of P.E. and Games at RPPS is to create an inclusive sporting environment where students of all skill levels can improve their performance. This is achieved by encouraging them to set and work towards realistic and attainable goals, both individually and as part of a team. Our co-educational approach ensures that children have the opportunity to experience and learn all sports, regardless of gender, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and teamwork.
At RPPS, we offer an extensive fixtures programme throughout the school year. Our students participate in local and national tournaments across all major sports, including rugby, football, netball, hockey, and cricket. Notable events include those hosted by the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) and the prestigious Rosslyn Park 7s. Additionally, there are numerous opportunities for our students to compete in fixtures against local schools in these sports. Our swimming teams also participate in galas against local schools, as well as in events organized by the London Swimming Association and IAPS national galas.
We have integrated technology into our P.E. and Games curriculum to enhance the learning experience. This includes the use of video analysis tools to help students review and improve their techniques. Additionally, iPads are used to provide instant feedback, allowing students to make real-time adjustments and improvements.
Ravenscourt Park, located just a stone’s throw away from our school gates, is utilized for many of our after-school sports clubs, outdoor P.E. topics, hockey, and netball sessions. We have recently diversified our curriculum by introducing padel, making us one of the few schools in the country to offer this sport.
We also have exclusive access to Ealing Cricket Club and Popesfield Ground, which are used for football, rugby, cross country, and cricket. The swimming pool at Latymer Upper School provides our Year 2 students and swim squad with access to excellent modern facilities, offering further opportunities for skill development and competitive swimming.
We regularly host open mornings where parents and children can come and experience Ravenscourt Park School.
