PSHEE and RSE

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development (PSED) is the cornerstone of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), significantly enriching children’s school experiences and supporting their emotional well-being. By helping children develop confidence, build positive relationships, and understand both their own and others’ emotions, we foster essential social skills like empathy and cooperation.

By engaging in structured activities, children learn to manage their emotions, build resilience, and adapt to new situations, which are crucial for their emotional wellbeing. PSED also teaches responsibility, respect, and positive behaviour, creating a harmonious learning environment. By supporting our children’s readiness for learning we enhance their ability to concentrate, stay motivated, and work well with others. Our aim is that children not only succeed academically but also grow into emotionally secure, well-rounded individuals, laying the foundation for lifelong personal and social success.

PSHEE

In an increasingly fast-paced and demanding world, Personal Social Health and Economic Education (PSHEE) is central to our children’s social and emotional development. Through our spiral curriculum in Years One through to Six, and our school core values, we help our children learn about the world around them and their impact and place in it. It is an opportunity for discussions to take place in a safe environment and to challenge each other to view things from different perspectives, encouraging respectful interactions with peers.
Not only do the children learn about the importance of staying healthy in body and mind and how to do so, but also how to stay safe within their communities and online. Sharing online habits, reflecting on scenarios in different contexts our children to develop into digitally responsible individuals who understand the importance of respectful conduct online and how to navigate the digital world with awareness of the risks and benefits of 21st Century technology.

RSE

Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) aims to foster an understanding of respect for self and others through developing the knowledge on how to build and nurture positive relationships with those around them. Lessons help build self confidence and self-esteem as well as preparing children for the changes adolescence brings for boys and girls. This includes emotional changes as well as physical changes and the correct scientific vocabulary to describe themselves and their bodies.  Our RSE programme is taught from Reception to Year Six through a range of teaching methods and interactive activities, discussions and quizzes with selected resources, such as books and animation clips, used to support and promote understanding within a moral context.

Open Mornings

We regularly host open mornings where parents and children can come and experience Ravenscourt Park School.
