At RPPS, we believe that a well-rounded education includes a deep understanding and respect for the diverse religious traditions and cultures that shape our world. Our Religious Education program plays a crucial role in nurturing students’ moral and spiritual development, fostering a sense of empathy, curiosity, and open-mindedness. By exploring different faiths, our students learn to exist within a global community, preparing them to become thoughtful, informed, and respectful citizens.
Religious Education at RPPS is more than just learning about various religions; it is an exploration of the values, beliefs, and practices that have shaped human history and continue to influence societies today. Through RE, students gain insight into the major world religions, understanding the significance of rituals, symbols, and sacred texts. They learn to ask meaningful questions about life, purpose, and ethics, developing critical thinking skills and a strong moral compass. Our RE curriculum encourages students to reflect on their own beliefs while respecting the diverse views of others.
RE is taught through an enquiry-based approach, where students explore key questions that challenge them to think deeply about religious beliefs and practices. Each year, students focus on a different religion, delving into core questions that guide their learning throughout the term. Lessons are designed to be interactive and reflective, encouraging students to engage in discussions, share their thoughts in their Class Reflection Journals, and consider different perspectives. We believe in learning by doing, so each year includes a religious trip where students immerse themselves in the religion they are studying, providing real-world connections to the concepts discussed in class.
RE at RPPS is closely integrated with other areas of the curriculum, enhancing students’ understanding of how religion intersects with history, culture, and society. Through cross-curricular projects, students explore the influence of religion on art, literature, and social structures, deepening their appreciation of the role religion plays in shaping our world. Enrichment activities, such as guest speakers, Themed Weeks, religious celebrations and creative projects, provide additional opportunities for students to engage with the subject matter in dynamic and meaningful ways.
We believe that understanding and respecting different religions is an essential part of a child’s education. Our RE program encourages students to ask questions, engage in thoughtful discussions, and develop a growing understanding of the diverse religious and cultural traditions that exist around them. By learning through enquiry, discussion, and real-world experiences, our students not only gain knowledge about the major world religions but also develop the empathy and respect needed to navigate an increasingly interconnected world.
We regularly host open mornings where parents and children can come and experience Ravenscourt Park School.
